Nice to meet you!

"Woah Hello Class 429 Hello!!!"
Howdy! My name is Chapel (screen name obv) and I am a novice (as in I started 5 weeks ago) website designer and a kinda compentent artist (??? jury's out on that one.)I am a multidiciplinary artist, which means I do many things kinda poorly but hey I have a shit ton of fun while doing it! This site is one of the many constant projects I am working on. I play different instruments (piano, organ, ukelele, and barely violin) and am currently working on a ost theme for the current campaign I'm in Osmosis!
A huge reason why I am into/motivated by things is it's connections to people. I believe people are the mosaic around them, created from people, places, and things they care about. This past year I have realized that I care a lot about how I am able to connect with others (Right now I am speaking awkwardly in front of a class of my peers about this website LMAO). This site is not only a culmination of this attempt of connection but of a lot of fears regarding art, art platforms, and the future of the internet. (more on this later)
Right now I am trying to carve a space out of the internet, one of the only places that has really accepted me and my many social hiccups. For better or for worse, the internet is a huge part of my identity and like everything, changes. I am trying to change with it!
Project Proposal TL:DR
Right now, I think artist are forced into this new algorithm/content farming sites that exploit artist through unhealthy engagement and feeds llms. This website is a skeleton of something that could be cool and community based. This is my response to the changing landscape. Our digital self-representation is so important now, especially since the line ever blurring on where we end and where it begins and learning the basics of html and css I think is a important creative skill, too! Hop on any indiweb site and look at other people's amazing works to see what I mean (not that mine isnt also cool it's just goddamn ppl are so talented)

ARTIST STATEMENT:
My work is driven by a love for both art and human connection. I’m constantly exploring new ways to express myself and share that passion with others. My art leans toward bright, pop-inspired character design, featuring minimal shading, color palettes, and a strong emphasis on linework to create depth. This website is part of a personal project I proposed for my final semester in college — and hopefully, it helps me pass the class (fingers crossed)! More than that, though, it’s a space I’ve created to showcase my art, connect with others, and celebrate creativity outside the bounds of algorithm-driven platforms.
